Once you have completed your payment you can download the patterns right away. The picture on the right is made from our String Art Fun sunflower pattern. We have used a base board of cork floor tiles covered with black felt. Veneer pins are nailed into this and multi-stranded cotton (sold in skeins for cross stitch work) has been used to string it.......

Ship Ahoy! Our Fabulous String Art Sailboat Wall Sculpture
Instructions: Step 1- Print out the nail pattern guide below. Step 2 - and securely tape it on to your piece of wood. Make sure to tape it on all four sides so it stays put while you nail in the pins. Step 3 - place a nail on any dot on the pattern guide and nail the nail in half way so at least 1/4" to 3/8" of the nail remains above the paper. (You need to have enough room to wrap the thread around each nail.) Nail in a nail in each of the dots on the pattern guide until you have filled the entire sailboat shape.....

String art combines elements of art with math. Students use straight lines (string) to connect corresponding points to create images. Geometric shapes are formed by leading the eye to "see" an image. It is formed by using positive and negative areas of color and overlapping of color areas. Exciting Scout Crafts - String Art Flower
The flower in the photo above, took 36 feet of green for the large leaf, 13 feet of green for the small leaf, 6 feet of orange for the small bud at the bottom, 45 feet of red for the flower petals, and 4 feet of yellow for the center of the flower. These measurements contain a little extra so you shouldn't run short.....

String art at Math Cats
Print out patterns for making your own string art pictures! Use a ruler or any straight edge and colored pencils or markers to connect the dots. (You can even transfer the patterns to wood, hammer nails into the dots, and wrap string or thread from nail to nail to make your designs.) Here are some ideas to get you started......
